LOUISE ASTON

Louise started her career as a fashion buyer at Marks & Spencer and transitioned into campaigning by taking health into fashion to support the government’s national skin cancer prevention programme. As Creative Director at COI, she has led campaigns including World Mental Health Day, 5 A DAY and FRANK.

Since joining Business in the Community, Louise has campaigned to establish employee wellbeing as a core responsible business component and a strategic boardroom issue.

The campaign has produced ground breaking research, including a three-year national survey cycle of mental health at work through a line manager lens.

Under Louise’s leadership, BITC’s Wellbeing Campaign takes a whole person, whole system approach to supporting thriving people, thriving business and thriving communities.

The success of the campaign has been built on a collaborative approach with business, government and third sector partners.

In partnership with Public Health England, BITC has co-produced a suite of innovative, interconnected toolkits consolidating the best evidence, freely available resources and employer practice on topics including mental health, sleep and recovery, suicide, musculoskeletal health, drugs, alcohol, tobacco and physical activity, healthy eating and healthier weight.

She is a member of the following expert advisory boards:

  • Government Joint Work and Health Unit
  • NHS Healthy Workforce
  • What Works Centre for Wellbeing
  • Council for Work and Health
