Dame Carol Black GBE

Professor Dame Carol Black GBE is currently the Governments independent advisor on drug misuse. She is also Chair of the British Library, the Centre for Ageing Better, and Think Ahead, the Governments fast-stream training programme for Mental Health Social Workers. She is a member of RAND Europes Council of Advisers and Commonwealth Secretary- Generals Special Envoy on Ageing Well. In 2019, she completed a seven-year term as Principal of Newnham College in Cambridge University, where she was a Deputy Vice-Chancellor. She is a past President of the Royal College of Physicians of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges past Chair of the Nuffield Trust for Health Policy and a previous trustee of the National Portrait Gallery.
