Dr John Briffa

Dr John Briffa, BSc, MB BS, is a medical doctor, keynote speaker, author, and coach with more than 30 years of experience advising organisations on workplace wellbeing and performance. His focus is on reversing and preventing the costliest people challenges – including fatigue, presenteeism, and burnout – using evidence-based approaches that draw on biology, neuroscience, and productivity research. His work combines scientific evidence with decades of clinical and coaching experience to support healthy high performance and sustainable success.

To address these challenges, Dr Briffa developed the Four Fundamentals framework, which sets out the skills individuals, teams, and organisations need for wellbeing, performance, resilience, and sustainability. It comprises four strategies: Emotional Regulation, for performing under pressure; Energy, for sustaining endurance and effectiveness; Environmental Design, for shaping workspaces that support focus; and Execution, for managing workload and improving productivity. Applied together, these fundamentals enhance engagement and support a workforce’s ability to live and work successfully and sustainably.

An honours graduate of University College London School of Medicine, Dr Briffa has treated more than 25,000 individuals using lifestyle-oriented approaches, and has personally advised more than 8,000 business professionals and executives. He is a former columnist for several publications, including Men’s Health and The Observer, and has contributed more than 800 articles to the mainstream press.
