  • The MAD Legal Industry Summit – Strategies to improve mental health and wellbeing across the legal sector: A one-day Summit bringing the different elements of the law profession together to discuss key issues and decide the best way forward to make the law a healthier profession.
  • The MAD Construction Summit – Building better mental health and wellbeing across construction’s workforces: By providing best practice, toolkits and case studies, this Summit will demonstrate how organisations from across the construction sector can embed a continuous and comprehensive approach to ensure no-one reaches crisis point and mental health awareness becomes everyone’s issue.
  • The MAD DE&I Summit: Building on the success of last year’s DE&I Symposium, which demonstrated the powerful connection between DE&I and wellbeing, we’ll be bringing together leaders to foster the collaboration that’s needed to create inclusive workplaces where all employees can thrive.

Michael Mainelli is the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London. The Lord Mayor acts as a spokesman for the City, leading overseas business delegations to key international markets on behalf of the UK financial and professional services industry. He has served as Alderman for Broad Street since 2013 and as Sheriff of the City of London 2019-2021. Significant past posts have included Almoner of Christ’s Hospital, International Financial Advisor to the Taoiseach, London Waterways Commissioner, Trustee of the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

Originally a research scientist in aerospace and computing, Mainelli became a senior partner with accountants BDO Binder Hamlyn and later Corporate Development Director for Europe’s largest R&D firm, the Defence Evaluation & Research Agency. During a mergers & acquisitions spell in merchant banking with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, he co-founded Z/Yen in 1994, one of the City’s leading think-tanks, promoting societal advance through better finance and technology.

Peter is the CEO of the CIPD, the professional body for HR and People Development. He is also Chair of Engage for Success and the What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and on the Board of the College of Policing. He sits on many forums linked to wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, routes in to work and skills, flexible working, and corporate governance.

Peter writes and speaks widely on the development of HR, the future of work, and the key issues of leadership, culture and organisation, people and skills. In 2021, his second book ‘The New World of Work’ was published, exploring the many factors shaping work, workplaces, workforces and our working lives, and the principles around which we can build a future that is good for people, for business and for societies. 

Prior to joining the CIPD in 2012 Peter was Chair of the Institute of Leadership and Management, an Executive Fellow at London Business School, and held a number of Board level roles. He had a long career in consulting at Accenture working with organisations around the world, and in his last seven years there was Global Managing Director for the firm’s human capital and organisation consulting practice. 

He is a Fellow of the CIPD, a Fellow of AHRI (the Australian HR Institute), the Royal Society of Arts, and the Academy of Social Sciences. He’s also a Companion of the Institute of Leadership and Management, the Chartered Management Institute, and the British Academy of Management. He holds honorary doctorates from Bath University, Kingston University and Birmingham City University, and is a Visiting Professor at Aston University, and at Unitar University, Malaysia.

Dame Carol is currently the Government’s independent advisor on drug misuse. She is also Chair of the British Library, the Centre for Ageing Better, and Think Ahead, the Government’s fast-stream training programme for Mental Health Social Workers.

She is a member of RAND Europe’s Council of Advisers and  Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Ageing Well

In 2019 she completed a seven-year term as Principal of Newnham College in Cambridge University where she was a Deputy Vice-chancellor.

She is a past President of the Royal College of Physicians of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges past Chair of the Nuffield Trust for Health Policy and a previous trustee of the National Portrait Gallery.
