Steve Hails

With over 20 years’ experience in the development and implementation of effective strategies, policies and systems in engineering and construction environments, Steve has worked for Nuclear Electric, Procter & Gamble, the Engineering Employers’ Federation, Siemens Energy and Crossrail before joining Tideway in 2016.  

Responsible for business services, including information systems, facilities, quality and environment together with advising on health, safety and wellbeing issues, ensuring that all risk areas are identified and managed, and promoting a positive health and safety Company culture.

As a non-executive director Steve has recently been appointed, as an external member, to the Programme Board for the Palace of Westminster Renovation & Renewal project.  He is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Mates in Mind (the mental health charity for UK construction) and a founding member of the Health in Construction Leadership Group.

Steve is a Chartered Member of IOSH and, in 2018, became the first Honorary Fellow of the British Occupational Hygiene Society.

In 2019, Steve was recognised as one of the top 10 Corporate Allies at the National LGBT Awards.
